The “nose job” is done for aesthetic and health reasons. You can completely change the look of the nose. Humpback, crooked, oblique, overhanging noses are most often corrected. You can change the shape of the tip, the shape of the wings, the size of the holes, the length and the size. In patients with nasal obstruction and respiratory problems, the nasal septum is straightened or modeled.

Before the procedure

Necessary conditions for this procedure are a good, general health condition and correct values ​​of basic laboratory tests: bleeding time, blood sugar level, morphology, blood type, coagulation indicators APTT and INR, creatinine, electrolytes, hepatitis B vaccine, ECG, bacteriological smear from the nose. Contraindications to the procedure include: anemia, vascular defects, uncontrolled hypertension, diabetes, sinusitis, pregnancy.

Course of the procedure

Depending on the conditions, the incisions are made in the nose and, if necessary, under the cartilage and other parts of the nose. The procedure is under general anesthetic, so the patient has to stay in the clinic for a few hours thereafter. The whole procedure takes 1 to 2 hours.

Postoperative course

After the procedure, the nose is supported with tamponade stripes. Outside, a solid bandage is used. Tamponade strips are removed after one week and the bandages after 10 days. After removal of the bandage, the nose is swollen. Eyeglass hematomas appear under the eyes for up to 3 weeks. The final shape of the nose will be visible at the earliest after half a year. In the postoperative period (about 4 weeks) one should limit his physical activity: avoiding hasty movements, exertion and sports activities. Extreme sports may only be practiced again after 3 months.

Potential complications

Immediately after the procedure, early complications may occur: persistent bleeding, tamponade in the throat, infection, pus tears. Later complications include: curvature of the nose and scars. The choice of an experienced specialist and a strict control of the patient ensure, that complications are rarely observed and then only very minor.
